January 31 - Red Pandas!

These are a few pictures of Red Pandas.

  • The red panda is an endangered animal due to poaching, fragmentation, and inbreeding depression.

  • Before the black and white pandas, red pandas were just known as pandas.

  • There Habitat is located in Eastern Himalayas and South-western China.

  • Their life span is up to 8 years in the wildlife.

  • These critters would be classified as nocturnal because they are mostly active at night.

  • Red Pandas are the size of a cat.

  • Red Pandas are vegetarian Carnivores because they eat 97% bamboo, ut sometimes they eat small mammals, eggs, and flowers.

  • You might think that Firefox was based on a fox, but this web browser is based on a Red Panda.

  • Red Panda's have a false thumb also known as an extended wrist bone which has elaborated over the time they climb trees and eat bamboo.

  • These creatures can actually be adopted.

  • Their scientific name is Ailurus fulgens

  • Female Red Pandas can at least have 1-4 young and usually, they are twins.

  • These mammals usually reside solitary in trees.

  • Red Pandas not only have an adorable face, but the white face is almost luminescent and it can be used to help a Mother Red Panda spot its cubs in the dark. Their tear tracks get the sun out of their eyes.

  • The Red Panda's tail is used as a tail and pillow as they wrap themselves around it to fall into a deep sleep.
